Full preparation

                            Cut apples into bite-sized pieces. In a medium pan, add butter, apple slices, brown sugar, ½ tsp cinnamon and ¼ tsp nutmeg. Cook over medium-high heat until brown sugar has dissolved. Reduce heat and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

                            Next, in a large bowl whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla, white sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.

                            Melt butter in a large pan. Completely submerge each bread slice in the mixture, ensuring both sides are coated well. 
- 
                            Cook the bread until golden brown on each side - about 1-2 minutes. Repeat with remaining bread slices. 
- 
                            To serve, generously top toasts with apple-cinnamon mixture. Drizzle maple syrup and sprinkle with powdered sugar and pistachio slices.
